At Old Stone Vets we try to provide you with the best veterinary care for your animals at a reasonable price. Our basic price list below covers the routine costs. Any operation your pet may require will always be given an estimate of costs upfront. We always try to explain the costs involved in every procedure. We re-invest in our practice facilities all the time. New equipment and upgrades are all expensive but by having trained staff, equipment and expertise available at our practice means we can do the best for your pets under our care.

As of October 2025, we have joined forces with 2 local independent practices namely Scott Mitchell Veterinary Care in Hexham & Jim McLellan & Assoc Vets in Prudhoe to provide 24hr emergency cover for all small animal patients in our area.

This service will be staffed by vets from all 3 practices to allow us to share out the on call provision whilst still allowing your vets some time off after on call and also to provide 24hr on site nursing care for your patients. This change keeps your pet’s care & welfare provided by your own vets in a rota system with 2 other local independent practices.

All of our emergency small animal consultations will be directed to Scott Mitchell Veterinary Centre in Tyne Green Hexham where 24 hour nursing staff will triage your call and have a vet ready to see your animal for whatever emergency arrives.

We appreciate this may involve a slightly further distance to travel for our clients rather than to our Alston site, but we feel this is a better service we can provide to our clients without vets & nurses getting fatigued with extra on call nights etc.

All emergency calls to our practice will be automatically diverted through to Scott Mitchell Veterinary Care Centre in Hexham and your call will be dealt with appropriately.

A detailed estimate for all procedures is given before the operation and consent

Prices for certain operations out with routine procedures vary on size, time, patient and severity. We always keep clients informed of costs of all treatments throughout the procedure.

I am so glad that we did. What a professional and friendly practise, from the lovely lady on reception through to Rachel who did a fantastic job at the vetting. She had taken on board exactly what we were looking for in our potential new horse, and tailored the vetting exactly to suit that. We are delighted that the beautiful horse flew through the vetting and is now home with us. It gave us a lot of confidence having someone so knowledgeable and thorough as Rachel carrying out the vetting and we would recommend her and Old Stone Vets to anyone needing either a horse vetted or who needs a first class equine vet for their horses.
